DISC: communication, motivation, behavior and conflicts

The DISC model, based on the work of psychologist William Moulton Marston in the 1920s, is a popular, simple, standardized and relatively easy way to assess behavioral styles and preferences.

Who is the workshop intended for?

The training program “DISC: communication, motivation, behavior and conflict” is intended for those who work with people and who could use this knowledge and tools in their daily work. It could also be useful for managers in terms of a better and more adequate approach to people, communication, and understanding the motivation of employees. It is also intended for people who work in positions that involve contact and communication with a lot of people with different personalities.

Training objectives

The goals of this training are related to getting the basic settings of the DISC methodology and understanding the basic personality types and their profiles. Based on this, participants will receive examples and best practices in the use of DISC tools in everyday situations, work, and communication with people. In addition, they will have the opportunity to fill out the DISC questionnaires independently and get an insight into their profile as part of the exercises provided.

  • basics of DISC methodology based on Marston’s work
  • history of tool development and application possibilities in working with people and business environment
  • understanding and profiling people as the key to adaptation and success in communication and working with them
  • explanation of basic colors and related personality profiles
  • defining the basic features of different DISC profiles and the main differences between them
  • defining the basic motivational features of different DISC profiles and ways of recognizing them in contact and communication with people in everyday life
  • basic communication principles in working with people, depending on the dominant color in the profile
  • ways to resolve conflicts when working with different DISC profiles
  • defining the dominant behaviors of different DISC profiles and the mechanisms for recognizing different colors in the profile based on that
  • the sensitivity of the DISC methodology to roles and the possibility of differentiating profiles depending on the context, situation, and role with which a person identifies
  • good practices of using the DISC tool in everyday work with people
  • DISC mechanisms in management, team building, sales, and processes of presenting and persuading interlocutors
  • completing the DISC questionnaire and creating individual profiles of the participants
  • practicing working and communicating with different DISC profiles through role-playing exercises
