How do some people manage to stay healthy and successfully resist burnout despite a high level of stress? How do they think, what skills do they have, what do they say to themselves, and what stress-coping strategies do they use? These are the questions that arise when we talk about resilience.
A study was conducted to see what makes the difference in stressful occupations between individuals who have a high level of stress resistance and those who have a low level of stress resistance. Researchers have found that three things make a difference between individuals. Those people who have a high-stress resistance do the work they love, see problems as challenges, and know exactly what is in their control and what is not. It is precisely this attitude that results in individuals who think in this way having greater resilience and resisting stressful situations more successfully.
We, humans, can creatively turn the negative aspects of life into something positive and constructive. The most important thing is to get the best out of every situation with the knowledge of what I learned here.
Through the Resilience Building training, participants learned and became aware of how changing perspective, giving new meaning to situations, becoming aware of one’s strengths, and utilizing positive beliefs strengthen their stress resistance. And when we are resilient, we don’t get caught up in a whirlwind of negative thoughts and emotions and react as best we can from a calm state, and as such we successfully perform our roles as manager, colleague, parent, and partner. And we stay healthy, which is the most important thing.
Thank you all for your contribution and interesting work.
